Take time for self-care
Between school and work there’s hardly any time left in the day to just relax. I find myself at school or work all day and working on assignments when I get home until late at night. My calendar is constantly jam-packed with events and tasks to complete. To keep up with the abundance of tasks and work that needs to be done, I overwork, socialize less, and tend to neglect self-care.
No matter how self-indulgent it may sound, self-care is essential for our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Self-care is important in maintaining a healthy relationship with yourself as it allows positive feelings and boosts self-esteem.
Overworking causes stress and exhaustion which will actually cause you to be emotionally drained, less productive, and cause an array of health issues including anxiety and depression. This is why creating a self-care plan is so essential to enhancing your health and wellbeing, manage stress, and maintain the energy to continue living a hectic lifestyle.
Since self-care is such a personal matter, everyone’s approach will be different, but it is important to find some way to allow yourself to relax. Whether that be exercising, developing a regular sleep routine, writing in a journal, spending time with positive friends or family, or just relaxing. Be sure to take the time to find something you enjoy, so you can get your degree and take care of yourself while doing it.
