Dual Enrollment: Friend or Foe?

For some high school students, dual enrollment is a big step on the academic ladder. It can be a blessing or a curse for those who choose to take it. However, as scary as it may seem, taking that first step is exactly what I did.

In my freshman year of highschool, I was offered the chance to join Lehigh Carbon Community College’s dual enrollment program. I was skeptical at first about whether or not it would be a good fit for me. Others like me could be in the same situation, wondering things like, “Is this going to be different from the schooling I am used to?” “Will my grades be affected by this change?” and “How is this going to help me long term?”

After spending three years in the dual enrollment program, I learned that it was different from high school but not for the worse; I thought it was better. The teachers worked with their students to make sure they understood the material and helped create a healthy learning environment for all students who entered the classroom.

I know there may be other students who have been offered the same option I was. If it is not what you are looking for, that’s okay. Not everything has to be fit for everyone. It all comes down to what you feel is best for your life and your future. Shape it the way you want to shape it; do the things you wanna do. But, most of all, live your life to its fullest potential.
