Marvel Entertainment released Captain America: Brave New World, starring Anthony Mackie on Valentine’s Day in movie theaters across the globe. This is important as Mackie finally has the opportunity to star in his own movie for the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe(MCU) after working rigorously with Marvel as Sam Wilson/Falcon for 10 years, featured in many movies and shows throughout each of Marvel’s phases. In turn, Mackie will no longer be playing the superhero role of Falcon, but instead as the new Captain America. This role comes with a lot of pressure and big shoes to fill, as fans of the MCU do not want the original Captain America, played by Chris Evans, to be replaced. As a marvel fan myself, I am beyond excited that Mackie finally has his own movie after the blood, sweat, and tears he has shed to finally have this opportunity.

Mackie will be joined by Harrison Ford as Red Hulk/Thaddeus Ross, Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon, Giancarlo Esposito as the villain Sidewinder, Shira Hass as U.S. government agent Sabra, and many other amazing actors and actresses who we may have seen in previous MCU projects. Furthermore, the movie will be based on how Sam Wilson finds himself at the center of an international conflict shortly after his meeting with President Thaddeus Ross. He must quickly uncover the true motives behind a sinister global scheme before the real mastermind plunges the entire world into chaos.

The movie was rated 49% on Rotten Tomatoes, 6.1/10 on IMDb, and 80% on Popcornmeter. I personally saw it the day after its release and found it pretty underwhelming. In addition, some parts were a bit boring and felt like a continuation of previous Marvel projects.

Before you watch the movie, I would recommend watching a few other MCU movies and shows to enhance your movie-watching experience, as many references from previous MCU projects will be included throughout the film. I recommend watching The Incredible Hulk (2008), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Endgame (2019), The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (2021), and Eternals (2021).
