LCCC did not just welcome new and returning students this semester, but a new Athletic Director as well. Dr. MaryAnn Rush Wallace came to LCCC from Penn State Lehigh Valley to take over the athletics program.
“I’m eager to get athletics back up and running,” Dr. Rush Wallace said.
Dr. Rush Wallace grew up in Carmichaels, PA, about an hour and a half south of Pittsburgh.
From an early age, she was very active in sports. She has been involved with cheering and gymnastics since she was seven. She also played soccer in high school.
Since sports were a big part of her life, she studied exercise science at West Virginia University.
She then continued her education and went to the California University of Pennsylvania to get her master’s in exercise science.
Lastly, she received her doctorate in education with a focus on athletic administration from North Central University. While she was working toward her degrees, she was active in her school's sports and clubs.
After her internship with an athletic director, she knew this is what she wanted to do. She previously worked in higher education positions. She was a career coach at Lehigh University’s Center for Career and Professional Development.
She also worked at Penn State Lehigh Valley for three years before coming to LCCC.. Dr. Rush Wallace is very excited to be here, as she has lots of plans for the athletic department.
“I want to not only get us back where we were with our eight sports, but I’d like to build the athletic program.”
LCCC is currently in the winter sports season but is looking ahead to spring sports. If interested in playing, please contact Dr. MaryAnn Rush Wallace at mrushwallace@lccc.edu for more information.
