Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hecktown Oaks, Opening Summer 2021
The Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) begins its plans to build a new hospital, Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hecktown Oaks, which is expected to open in the summer of 2021. It will be located off of Route 33 along Hecktown Road in Lower Nazareth Township. It will include a 201,000 square-foot hospital, a 35,000 square-foot Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute, and a 61,000 square-foot medical office building.
The hospital is being built to accommodate requests for greater access to LVHN health care and service. The hospital will feature a wide range of LVHN health and wellness services. Residents of Lehigh Valley can expect to receive expert care from the Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute. The hospital will also provide 24/7 emergency care for adults and children and an exceptional patient experience.
This expansion will provide residents with a greater choice in health care locations in their community. According to LVHN News, more than 1,700 LVHN patients would have received health care closer to their homes at LVHN-Hecktown Oaks compared to other LVHN hospital campuses in the 2019 fiscal year. The hospital will also offer access to more clinical trials through the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance. It will also offer an infusion center, pharmacy, radiation oncology, and genetic counseling.
LVHN News states that the campus is being built with state-of-the-art infection control and patient safety protocols in response to COVID-19. Some of the added safety measures include bacteria-resistant flooring, hand-sanitizing stations, and plexiglass dividers in the registration area.
