Chain barbeque restaurant, Mission BBQ, emphasizes the importance of passion, dedication, and commitment in the restaurant industry.
The General Manager of the Whitehall location, Dallas Castellanos, oversees all restaurant functions, including food production, invoicing, scheduling, and community events. Castellanos finds his job rewarding and enjoys giving back to the community, particularly Vietnam veterans and first responders.
“There's more to the store than just barbeque,” said Castellanos.
Castellanos’s commitment to supporting veterans and first responders reflects the restaurant’s core values, while the emphasis on professional growth inspires employees. Mission BBQ allows its employees to excel and advance within the company, providing clear pathways for career development
“The thing that did the most for me at Mission BBQ was the ability to move up to the next level in our development, and I felt that I could do more and be more,” says Castellanos.
Castellanos emphasizes the importance of enthusiasm, perseverance, and devotion for those entering the food industry. He believes that those looking to enter the food industry should focus on developing their teammates and being involved in the business's overall success. For those going into managerial positions, it's important to work hard, be okay with missing out on things, and be passionate about what they want to do.
“Pour into your people, invest in making sure that your team has everything they need to grow and develop themselves,” says Taylor Brumley-Cole, Kitchen Servant Heart Leader.
With upcoming events that celebrate and honor those who serve, Mission BBQ continues to make a meaningful impact. The Whitehall restaurant will host special events this fall. On Veterans Day, November 11, they will have a live national anthem and free sandwiches for veterans. They will also participate in a Halloween parade in Coplay and Northampton.
Mission BBQ proves that there is, indeed, much more to its mission than just barbecue.
