Remembering the feeling of those who passed: Paradise with eternal love

Jada Budhoo | Writer

“Nobody deserves to be forgotten” and “Nobody deserves to fade away,” lyrics from the song "Disappear" from Dear Evan Hansen remind me of those who passed before us who deserve to be recognized. The pain of losing a loved one cannot be healed, but the memories of their love will forever stay with us. Each person is born with a special personality that may have been impacted by their environment and those who are in it.

They may be a part of a family as a sibling, cousin, or grandparent. They could be a loyal friend who forms a deep bond with their significant other. They may also have been a devoted mother, father, or spouse, with a presence that is irreplaceable. There are many ways an individual can identify the kind of relationship they could have with one another, but that doesn’t stop the memories they left with us.

This idea struck me hard when realizing those who we haven’t met can still leave a large impact on the world today. Earlier generations developed the education that we live in, our duties, laws, humanity, how our cities are governed, and much more. One that came to mind happened to be Fred Rogers in PBS’s Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. He passed away Feb. 27, 2003 at the age of 74. Rogers often said, “I like you just the way you are.” He wanted to leave a message on the world that kids are aware of what's going on around them and should be treated with honesty.

Sometimes, people pass away but just because they can't be with us in person doesn't mean they're completely gone. You can honor their memory by talking about the good times you shared together or remembering their presence in your heart. When going through a difficult situation, give yourself time to grieve, talk to a loved one, seek help, and hold those who are beloved dear to your heart. These moments are the ones that we cherish forever.
