The Student Government Association (SGA) at LCCC’s Schnecksville campus recently held two engaging events aimed at encouraging students to participate in a campus-wide survey. Held on October 10 and October 16, the initiative’s goal was clear: to promote student feedback while creating a welcoming campus atmosphere.
“The survey is crucial because it helps us understand if students feel welcome and if their needs are being met,” said Gene Eden, Director of Student Life. “We’ll use the results as a roadmap to improve the campus experience, though the final outcomes won’t be available until March.”
The October 16 event featured several improvements based on feedback from the first event. More tables, increased plush supplies, and additional gift cards ensured that more students had the chance to get involved.
“The whole event was about making us feel appreciated,” said Kimberly Lewis, who enjoyed the plush-making station. “It’s nice to have activities that make us feel valued as students—events like this should happen more often.”
SGA representatives said the events aimed to boost student engagement and gather campus feedback. Participation grew from 16% to 28%.
“Surveys show the college what’s working and what needs improvement—it’s a direct way for students to have a voice,” says SGA member, Jenna Moser.
The survey addressed important topics, such as whether students felt welcome and if their needs were being met by the college. For many, SGA’s initiative demonstrated how events could both uplift student morale and gather valuable campus feedback.
“Having these events not only motivates us to engage with campus activities, but it also lets us know our opinions matter,” said Rosemary Mendez.
SGA’s success with the October events has left many students excited for future activities. As SGA continues its mission to support student engagement, attendees expressed appreciation for the sense of community fostered at these events.
