The Importance of Having Goals
Anna Laible | Editor
In 2021, nothing is going to be given to you on a silver platter. You need to put forth the work and effort to earn that spot on a collegiate sports team, your degree, or a promotion. However, the only way that you can achieve goals is to establish an action plan to help you reach your hopes and dreams.
I have found that I am most successful when I set goals to have something to work towards - in sports, school, or in my other activities. Being able to know what I am working towards helps give me motivation to want to keep working harder every single day. In order to succeed, you need to do what others are not doing, so you need to be willing to get out of your comfort zone.
My advice to you would be to make a goal in every major category in your life, and to write three to five actions that you are going to do to achieve this goal weekly or monthly. These could be smaller action goals like spending 15 minutes working out or emailing people for new jobs. In order to make it to the top, you have to be one of the best out there. Your competitors aren’t going to hand you your dream, so start working towards it today. I know I have a long way to go to reach my ultimate dream, but I know that with laser focus on my goals, I will reach it!
