The Joy of Local Parks

In our busy lives, it’s easy to forget the simple joys that surround us. One of those joys is our local parks. In fact, it’s often very easy to find one of these special green spaces. Local parks are more than just patches of grass; they are places where memories are made and communities come together.
I have been going to the same park since I was 12. Back then, the swings felt like airplanes, and the patch of grass behind the playground felt like the entire world. As I grew up, I stopped visiting that park, which once held so much joy for me.
Until this past weekend. I groaned as my little brother begged me to take him to the park, but I complied nonetheless. I huffed and puffed during the two-minute drive there, but to my surprise, I rediscovered the joy of local parks. Seeing his smiling face as I gave him "underdog" pushes on the swing and watching his signature toddler waddle through the grass truly made me happy.
I realized I was wrong to write off my local park just because I thought I had "grown out of it." Parks are timeless treasures, reminding us that joy can be found in the simplest moments. So, let’s embrace these spaces and the happiness they bring before it becomes too cold to even step outside
