Volleyball On The Rise

Kenny Baptiste | Writer

LCCC introduced Dalin Long as the new Women's Volleyball Head Coach this fall, along with assistant coaches Chenla Long Sr. and Amy Krout. The Longs have helped coach for different club teams that their kids have been a part of and are now here at LCCC providing more opportunities for volleyball on campus.

“We love to help new players,” Long said. “Though it's nice to have people who know the game, we all have to start somewhere and this could be that start for others. We want to make an environment where people at all levels can come and learn the game of volleyball.”

Dalin Long, with their first time coaching at the college level, won the Women’s Volleyball Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Along with this, she brought the women’s team their first set and win since 2019.

“This was really fun,” Dalin Long said. ”Getting to help this group of girls win and having fun was a really nice experience. I hope that next year we can aim for the playoffs and win championships with these girls!”

Although the women’s season has come to a close they continue to provide volleyball for students on campus. One of these students is Krystian Posluszny, an LCCC Early College student.

“I love the open gyms,” Posluszny said. “Here we get the chance to improve our skills for new or current players of the sport. This place is very supportive for those just getting into volleyball and I can say that it has helped me tremendously.”

Currently there have been open gyms and pre-season practices happening at Berrier Hall. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they hold open gyms from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., while on Fridays they hold their pre-season practices from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. These open gyms and pre-season practices are open to all LCCC students.
