WXLV Establishes Community at LCCC

Julian Roman | Writer

College isn’t only about going to class and going home. Establishing connections is crucial for students’ well-being–and their future careers. Community builds connection, and strong connections are what WXLV is all about.

The WXLV Digital Media and Production Lab, otherwise known as the radio station, is a building that welcomes all students regardless of their major. WXLV aims to establish a creative and welcoming environment for students.

Pete Sabino, former student and Digital Media and Design Lab Coordinator, encourages all students– whether a T.V./film major, sound production major, or just someone interested in the radio station–to come visit.

Sabino is passionate about WXLV and its community.

“Whenever I get to help teach a student something or work with a student, I do enjoy that,” he said. Students report feeling a sense of community when they visit WXLV.

“It makes you feel welcome, especially being a film student, because I get to meet other film students,” said Yandel Ortiz, an LCCC student.

WXLV offers many creative outlets for students. Sabino welcomes students to use any of the materials at the Lab, whether that is the radio/podcasting booth, audio and video production equipment, the computer lab, or any other resources for their creative endeavors.

There are plenty of opportunities for students at WXLV. A welcoming community and environment is crucial for students.

Whether you are visiting WXLV for the workspace, connections made there, or the resources you can utilize, all are welcome to visit WXLV.
